The Wave of Light

I’d like to take a pause in my story because today is October 15th. It’s an international holiday called The Wave of Light.

At 7:00 PM in your respected time zone, please, light a special candle, flip on your front porch light, plug in the lighted wax warmer, anything that is special to you, in order to illuminate the night in honor of all the babies who have gone before their parents. Remember those littles who fought hard or didn’t have a chance to fight at all. Not limited to, but lost by miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, there are women all around the world that are hurting today. Actually, there are one in four women who hold their babies in their heart because they can’t hold them in their arms. Your probably working next to her, riding the bus with her, bumping into her at the gym or coffee shop. Extend grace and love today to everyone, because with every one of those women there is a daddy, too.

My prayer for all who are suffering today:

Lord,

You have known each of us before we knew ourself. You knit us together in our mother’s womb and knew we were strong enough to carry this burden throughout our earthly life when we didn’t/don’t think it’s possible. Today, our spirits are weaker as we remember our babies who we cannot love on earth. Our arms are empty. Our hearts are heavy. We maybe angry, sad, weeping or sleeping to get through. We wanted a lifetime of love and memories with our baby but You had different plans. We’re desperately searching for peace and joy as we live without our babies. Help us find the balance of living and grieving. We long for them, Lord. Please, help everyone be able to find that comfort and peace in You. To rejoice and shout Your name as we say our babies’ name. As hard as it is to wrap our hearts around this, help us bask in the knowledge that You are Lord, You are Sovereign, You are enough.

Amen.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7 NIV

12 lights for the 12 weeks my daughter has been an angel.
